DENT
Another top choice when getting a Qatar eSIM is DENT. They’re one of the only providers that offer monthly recurring billing options rather than a fixed duration plan.
DENT eSIM plans for Qatar are priced at:
- $9 for 1 GB / month
- $13.50 for 2 GB / month
- $18 for 3 GB / month
So if you’ll be an extended visitor to Qatar for business, school, or living abroad DENT likely has the best long-term eSIM pricing. But for a shorter visit I still recommend Airalo for their higher data allowances per plan.
KnowRoaming
The third recommended Qatar eSIM provider is KnowRoaming. Their primary differentiating factor is free unlimited incoming calls/texts included with your eSIM data package purchase.
Data plans for Qatar offered by KnowRoaming are a less cost efficient in my opinion though at:
- $13 for 500 MB – 15 days
- $44 for 1 GB – 30 days
So I view them as a decent but not top tier option. However if you want the unlimited incoming calling capability the rates aren’t totally unreasonable. But definitely not the most budget friendly rates compared to the other top Qatar eSIM choices.
Other minor eSIM providers
Beyond those top options I listed, there are a few other minor eSIM providers like eSIM.net and Always Online Wireless which can offer eSIM activation in Qatar.
They function fine in a pinch but don’t provide the level of value or reliability as the major carriers I recommended. Pricing is often inflated unless they happen to be running promotions when you purchase too. So I view them more as backups if for some reason you can’t quickly obtain an eSIM from one of my top choices above.
What’s the best eSIM provider for your trip?
Ultimately when deciding the right Qatar eSIM option for your needs, the two biggest considerations are:

For completeness I should also mention there are a couple minor drawbacks that come with using eSIMs for travel instead of a physical SIM card:
- Slightly more expensive – In some situations like very short trips, getting a local physical SIM may save you a couple dollars over an eSIM. But you then still have the hassle of locating and picking up a store bought SIM.
- Reusable SIM cards – With plastic SIM cards, you could technically reuse the same one again on a future trip if visiting the same country. But each eSIM has to be individually purchased.
- Registration requirements – Some eSIM providers oddly still require you to register your passport or other personal identification details during checkout. Thankfully many are now relaxing policies so ID verification is not always mandatory.
However none of those are dealbreaker disadvantages that should prevent you from getting an eSIM in my opinion. The benefits and convenience of having connectivity immediately upon landing far outweigh minor logistical or cost considerations like that. How can I use an eSIM for calls and texts?
A question I had when researching eSIM options was whether you could use an eSIM plan for actual calls and texts like a local phone number or only for mobile data access.
The answer depends on whether you have an iPhone or Android device:
For iPhone users like myself, I learned that with most Qatar eSIM data plans, you cannot natively place voice calls or SMS messages through the cellular connection. Apple does not permit voice/text functionality over data-only eSIM profiles.
However there are a couple workarounds:
- Make calls over WiFi using apps like FaceTime, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger etc. Calls will go through whenever you are connected to WiFi.
- Port your phone number to an app like Google Voice. Then you can place voice calls to US numbers from Qatar for free via the app. There are usage limits but it works in a pinch!
On Android devices Google does allow calls and texts over data-only eSIM profiles. So Android users have more flexibility to connect how they please with a Qatar travel eSIM.
Overall lack of built-in voice/text abilities on iPhone is an annoying limitation but worth the tradeoff for me to have readily available data through an eSIM whenever visiting Qatar or abroad in general. WiFi calling apps help bridge the gap well enough too.
