Integrated Quantum-Classical Micro-Systems (IQCs) Lab

Combining Integrated Electronics, Electromagnetics, and Quantum Engineering

Devan Shoemaker

Hello! My name is Devan Shoemaker, I graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2023. During undergrad, I worked in Dr. John Markert’s Magnetism and Superconductivity Group experimenting with mechanical oscillators for force microscopy and verifying the existence of angular momentum in phonons. For my capstone project, I worked under Dr. Ray Chen developing a photonic chip capable of detecting COVID-19 spike proteins. My broad research interests involve applied atomic, molecular, and optical physics to create novel and interesting quantum devices.
My hobbies include armchair philosophy and playing games, often at the same time. I’m also a big fan of teaching and epistemology. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the lab’s research or my own.
