ORGA Roles

The Operations Research Graduate Association has the following roles:

Co-Presidents (2)

– Organize Wine and Cheese

– Organize Big Red Barn Party

– Host new PhD orientation

– Organize new initiatives

– Be the go-to-people for anything PhD related

 

Secretary (1)

– Assign offices

– Manage the ORIE PhD Calendar, Slack, and directory

– Organize hiring lunches

 

Cornell Tech Rep (1+)

– Represent the interests of Tech students

– Coordinate streaming events to Tech

– Delegate out the NYC portion of visit weekend

– Manage Tech coffee + snack orders for colloquia

 

Visit Weekend Coordinators (3)

– Plan the Ithaca portion of visit weekend

– Assign student budies

 

Activity Planners (3)

– Host events

– Broadcast campus happenings

 

URM PhD Application Support Program Officers (1+)

– Coordinate volunteers for the PhD application support program

– Coordinate with GFA, DGS + hiring committee for advertising the program and contacting prospective candidates

– Attend recruiting events held by the Graduate School and/or School of Engineering (around Oct / Nov)

 

PhD Colloquium Organizers (3)

– Schedule student speakers

– Organize the Tech colloquium with Tech students

– Organize professional development seminars and panels

 

Mentoring Program Organizers (2)

– Organize group mentoring lunches

– Pair mentors and mentees

Women in ORIE Officers (1+)

– Organize regular women in ORIE gatherings
– Plan the women in ORIE portion of visit weekend

 

Coke Czar (1)

– Manage the Coke machine

 

Coffee + Tea Czar (1)

– Manage coffee machine and tea inventory

– Plan tea times
