Career Readiness Program
PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE
The Break Through Tech New York Career Readiness Program is a comprehensive extracurricular program, designed to give underrepresented women industry-specific preparation for the tech hiring process. Centered within a cohort-focused, experiential framework, sessions cover everything from building an effective resume to how to prepare for a technical interview.
FOR STUDENTS
What to Expect
Our Career Readiness Program sessions include short lectures led by expert facilitators, in-class activities designed to help participants learn from their peers, and various opportunities to learn from volunteers from the tech industry. Participants are expected to participate in online modules before and after sessions to help prepare and debrief.
When We Meet
The Fall 2020 CaRe Program will run from August 9 – August 21, with two available options.
Option 1: Mondays & Wednesdays from 11am -12:30pm
Meeting Dates: August 10, 12, 17, 19
Option 2: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5pm – 6:30pm
Meeting Dates: August 11, 13, 18, 20
Program Updates
This year we will be featuring two new events! The additions include a Virtual Career Summit and optional Technical Interview training.
The Opening Summit will be hosted on Sunday August 9th from 2:30pm – 5pm. During the summit you will have a chance to explore specific roles in tech, learn how to pursue them, and gain career insights from some of our network of industry professionals.
The weekly Friday (optional) Technical Interview Trainings on Friday, August 14 and Friday, August 21 will provide participants who are interested in pursuing coding related careers with a competitive advantage, through hands on workshops dedicated to supporting your mastery of the technical interviews.

How to Apply
Current CUNY students who are planning to pursue a career in tech are welcome to apply!
Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis beginning June 5.
The final application deadline is July 31.
Break Through Tech works at the intersection of academia and industry to propel more underrepresented women into higher education and careers in tech. We welcome all applicants from underrepresented groups in tech to apply.
