Nicole Fernandez

Environmental geochemistry lab space

Eequipped with benchwork space, fume hood, high precision weighing station, degassing and titration stations, water bath, gravity convection drying oven, anaerobic chamber, ultrasonic cleaners, centrifuge, hot and magnetic stir plates, shaker tables, vacuum filtration setup, and bench pH and dissolved oxygen meters. Includes a BarmsteadTM GenPureTM Pro UV/UF (Deionization, UV, and Ultrafiltration) Thermo Scientific water purification system and customized reactors for experimentation.

We also host a basic VWR UV-1600PC UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, with methods currently developed to conduct silica (SiO2), phosphate (PO4), and iron (total or ferrous) analyzes. Please contact PI Fernandez if interested in using the UV-Vis for your samples.

Kayla Russo

PICARRO L230-i Cavity Ring-Down Spectrometer

For high precision, real-time analysis of stable isotopes of water  (2H, 18O) for liquid water and matrix-bound water samples. The Picarro is field deployable and has been succesfully applied to surface, meteoric, and hydrothermal waters. Field-deployable, our instrument is available for internal and external use. Please contact PI Fernandez if interested in having your samples analyzed.

Hunter Jamison

Shimadzu HIC-ESP Ion Chromatograph

Equipped with a built-in electrodialytic ICDS-40A high performance suppressor and SPD-40V UV-Vis detector. Capable of major anion (SO4, PO4, NO3, NO2, Fl-, Cl-) and organic compounds (Formate, Acetate) analyses on water sampes. Methods can be developed for other organics and anions not listed here. Please contact PI Fernandez if interested in using our Shimadzu IC for your samples.
