What happens at the finals?
We’ve got fantastic feedback from past students, faculty advisors, sponsors, and media but we hope you get to come experience it all for yourself!
There’s too much going on there to describe here but in short, the finals take place largely over May 3-4, 2019 at NASA Kennedy Space Center Visitor Center. An informal welcome networking event is held the evening before in the Coco Beach, Fla. area. The competition itself is broken into two main parts. The first part is the expo, where teams demonstrate their projects to the judges and the public at the Space Center. The second part is closed door formal presentations to the judges. Intermixed throughout the competition are compelling talks given by top speakers that often include vice presidents and even CEOs, and other special events that are just for the finalist teams. The competition concludes the evening of May 4 with a unique and impactful award ceremony dinner event for all finalists. Can’t wait to see you there!
How teams are judged at the finals?
Teams are judged on their final report, their expo hall demonstration, and their final formal presentation. All three parts are weighted equally. The judging criteria for each part can be found on the resources page.
