We are a research group within Cornell ECE, pursuing ideas and techniques in optics and photonics, atomic physics and technology, and quantum technologies.
Our aims include:
- advancing the state of the art in precise and large-scale control of quantum systems for computation and metrology,
- leveraging technologies we develop to enable and explore novel functionalities in atomic quantum systems, and
- exploring novel optical materials and devices motivated by control of quantum systems, including but not limited to ions, neutral atoms, and color centers — with an eye to application in other domains as well.
Our work is interdisciplinary, drawing on the basic physics of atoms/ions, their interaction with light, and photonic and optoelectronic technologies.
