How to Apply
All applicants are required to submit the following documents for consideration:
- Application form
- Important: preview the application on our preview page and review the frequently asked questions
- Include faculty of interests OR research interests. Consider faculty with our partnering program CROPPS.
- Upload required supporting documents 2-4 below
- Personal statement (3 pages max) must address both items below:
- Describe your research interests, advanced degree plan and explanation of how this research opportunity relates to your career goals and academic plan; AND
- Discuss one of your lived experiences and how it will contribute to LSAMP’s diverse and inclusive scholarly community. Some topics to consider:
- Having overcome educational, socio-cultural, economic, personal, and/or identity-related barriers situations or conditions that impacted your advancement or ability to advance in a STEM field;
- Having demonstrated a commitment to addressing the barriers that prevent participation of historically underrepresented groups in graduate STEM programs;
- Having demonstrated leadership potential to address equity or inclusion issues of domestic minorities in STEM fields.
- Transcript(s) (unofficial or official)
- Resume or curriculum vitae
- One (1) letter of recommendation, recommender submits via the Recommendation Form which will be sent to them.

Letter of Recommendation
The recommender will receive an email with instructions on how to submit their recommendation. In the letter, state your overall recommendation for the student by providing an assessment of their character, qualifications, and potential for success in research. Please include details about their strengths and weaknesses based on your knowledge of their work and abilities. For questions, reach out to inclusive_excellence@engineering.cornell.edu.
